The City of Jackson, TN Groundskeeping Department is responsible for maintaining city-owned property.
Duties include mowing and weed eating all city parks, medians, city building, fire stations, and vacant lots; cleaning city parks and park restrooms daily; opening city parks' gates daily; planting, trimming, weeding, mulching, and maintaining over 800 flower beds; seasonal leaf removal via leaf trucks; seasonal leaf removal in parks and around city buildings; adding wood chips in city park playgrounds; maintain post and rails on city park fencing; cut some trees that are not near power lines, houses, fences, etc.; small dirt-work jobs for projects such as Bemis Mill Park and new dog park; run garbage routes bi-weekly that consists of the park dumpsters and downtown trash cans; maintain city-owned athletic fields; spray herbicides and pre-emergent on athletic fields, downtown sidewalks, flowerbeds, and city buildings.
