City of Jackson Announces Mayor’s Youth Council for Class of 2026

JACKSON, Tenn. – Invitations to apply were sent to all area high schools including public, private and homeschool. We are happy to have representative this year from five out of six JMCSS High Schools and three out of four of the city’s private high schools.

The following students were selected to serve:

  • Je'Delle Ross Early College High
  • Kyra Williams Early College High
  • Mae Borden Early College High
  • Maria Edington Jackson Central Merry High School
  • Tanishi Sorker Jackson Christian
  • Peter Snowden Madison Academic Magnet
  • Heidi Elsayed Madison Academic Magnet High School
  • Andy Galindo North Side High School
  • Kylee Yarbrough South Side High School
  • Max Richardson Trinity Christian Academy
  • Edie Allen Trinity Christian Academy
  • Jack Morris University School of Jackson
  • Taylor Prince University School of Jackson

Members will be sworn in during the September 3rd City Council meeting.

During their council term, students will learn about city policies and get a behind-the-scenes look at how local government operates. They will also participate in current initiatives and have the opportunity to develop individual leadership skills.

"As we welcome the Class of 2026 to the Mayor's Youth Council, I am filled with optimism and pride. Their involvement is crucial in shaping our community's future," said Mayor Scott Conger. "Student engagement in government brings fresh perspectives and innovative solutions. Together we can create a more inclusive and vibrant city."

This is our sixth class for the Mayor’s Youth Council. Students will meet once a month until their graduation.
