JACKSON, Tenn. – Mayor Scott Conger welcomes former Policy and Research Director for the Beacon Center of Tennessee Ron Shultis, as Chief of Staff for the City of Jackson, TN Government Organization.

For the past seven years in his role with The Beacon Center of Tennessee, the state's oldest and most influential non-partisan public policy think tank and its sister advocacy organization Beacon Impact, Shultis led and conducted the Beacon Center’s research efforts and helped to shepherd Beacon Impact’s legislative agenda through the Tennessee General Assembly. His research has been covered and cited in numerous state and national publications.

"As we continue to move Jackson forward, I am thrilled to welcome Ron Shultis as our new Chief of Staff. Ron brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of policy that will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goals for the city. His work as Policy Director at the Beacon Center of Tennessee has equipped him with the expertise and vision needed to navigate the complex challenges of municipal governance,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “I am confident that Ron’s leadership will be instrumental in driving our initiatives and ensuring that we serve the people of Jackson with transparency, efficiency, and innovation."

Prior to his work at the Beacon Center, Ron worked for several years as a corporate immigration paralegal for Zulkie Partners LLC, a nationally recognized boutique immigration law firm in Chicago, Illinois. Here he assisted with foreign nationals’ nonimmigrant visa and permanent residency applications. Prior to living and working in Chicago, Ron served as a legislative aide for the House Majority Whip of the Georgia General Assembly, successfully helping to analyze and summarize legislation for the House Republican Caucus.

"For the past two years my family and I have come to love living in Jackson. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring my policy background and expertise to come work for the city I love and Mayor Conger's administration," said Shultis. "I look forward to working every day to make Jackson the best city in America to raise a family, build a business, and earn a living."

Shultis received his Bachelor’s of International Relations and Modern Languages from Georgia Tech. Outside of work, Shultis is an avid golfer and spends his fall Saturdays watching his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Sundays watching the Green Bay Packers with his wife Kristen and their son Lee.
