Captain Gambill

Captain Robert Gambill joined the Jackson Police Department in September of 1999 as an officer assigned to the Patrol Division and in 2007 became a Field Training Officer. During his time as a patrol officer, he attended Lambuth University graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in accounting. In 2008 he successfully assessed for a position in the department’s Criminal Investigations Division as an investigator. In May of 2011, he was awarded the Life Saving Medal for his participation in the locating and rescue of a victim of kidnapping.

In 2013, he successfully assessed and attained the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division where he served as a street supervisor for the Patrol Division’s midnight shift. In October of 2015 he was assigned to the Administration Division and began service as the department’s financial officer and member of its Command Staff.

In July of 2016, he was promoted to Lieutenant within the Administration Division. The new position required an emphasis in budget forecasting and expense planning to meet the fiscal responsibilities of the department. The assignment also consisted of the reformation and expansion of the department’s Extra Duty Program. In May of 2019 he was promoted to Captain in the Administration Division.
